Julie Mayer

 

Julie Mayer, (b.1968, Biddulph, UK), studied MA Fine Art at University of Central Lancashire, she is an artist whose practice is concerned with the phenomenology and materiality of abstract painting. Through the lens of feminism, Mayer’s practice unpicks the patriarchal canon of Modernism's aesthetic ideologies and histories. Gender, genius, and madness are explored through gesture and traces of the body’s making. Currently lives and works in Preston.
