Artist Statement

Lucy Crouch studied a BA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and MA Fine Art at the University of Leeds. Recent Exhibitions include Becoming After at University of Leeds.

Crouch's work focuses on the crucial role of materiality within an essential language of drawing. Employing graphite as the material for the physical structure, the work allows the qualities of the material to determine the form of the work. Rather than expressing a line, graphite expands and contracts to expose its own surface.
