Stephen Green

Biography

Stephen Green studied at Liverpool John Moore’s University, Where he gained a BA in Fine Art.

He has exhibited drawings and paintings in open shows at the Royal Cambrian Academy and The Royal west of England Academy. He was shortlisted for the Works on Paper Prize in the current show.

Artist Statement

 

Greens work has always been based on landscapes gradually becoming representations of my ideas of landscape.

​

he regards drawing as a means of working out, understanding and realising ideas visually.

 

His work is mostly abstract; it is intended to to represent my thoughts and ideas. To that end, I work with formal conventions of drawing, realising the idea through variations.

 

Currently his ideas are interpretations of Welsh myths (the Mabinogion). Specifically stories in which the protagonists travel to a parallel world (Annwn)

 

His recent work has developed from consideration of landscapes, specifically stone monuments. In some myths these mark entrances to the other world.
